ARE CAR SHOPPERS BOTHERED BY RECALLS AND FALSE MPG CLAIMS?

Swapalease.com Survey Reveals Concern Yet Many Say ‘Part of Our Car Culture’

Cincinnati, OH (Febuary 28, 2013)

Vehicle recalls and false MPG claims have been reported recently in the world of automotive. How concerning are these issues for drivers and car shoppers? Swapalease.com, the world’s largest automotive lease marketplace, conducted a survey recently to check the pulse of car shoppers to find out where they stand on these issues.

On several of the questions, many drivers and car shoppers appear to be bothered by both issues. However, car lease experts at Swapalease.com were surprised at the number of people who do not appear to be troubled by these issues. In fact, on some of the questions, the clear majority of people accept these problems as simply a part of today’s car culture and would rather focus on other priorities when shopping for a vehicle.

“The feedback from our survey shows how many of today’s car shoppers aren’t very concerned with these issues right now, which is surprising because of the safety and economic implications tied to each,” said Scot Hall, Executive Vice President of Swapalease.com.

On the topic of vehicle recalls, roughly 70 percent of respondents feel there are a lot of recalls today, but they also believe it’s simply a normal part of everyday life now. In fact, while 42 percent of people try to keep up with recall updates, approximately 90 percent of respondents don’t feel the recalls make them nervous about other vehicles on the road. Ultimately, nearly 50 percent of respondents said the recalls will not affect their next purchase or lease decision on their next vehicle.

With all the talk of false MPG claims in the news, a surprising number of people are also not bothered by recent news items. Nearly 40 percent of respondents are not moved by the issue, nor do they believe it’s a matter to be taken seriously. An additional 40 percent of respondents feel that false MPG claims will not affect their decision to purchase or lease their next vehicle.

www.swapalease.com is the first and only full-service online marketplace of in-process vehicle leases. With the goal of matching individuals who are currently leasing vehicles they wish to get out of, with individuals who are looking for short-term leases with attractive payments and no money down, it’s the perfect way to find the perfect vehicle for you.
