MORE CAR SHOPPERS USING SMS TEXT MESSAGE TO NEGOTIATE A LEASE

Roughly 25% of Swapalease.com Customers Believed to Use Text Messaging to Transfer

CINCINNATI, OHIO (July 31, 2013)

Are more people negotiating for a car lease deal by using SMS text messaging? Swapalease.com, the nation’s largest car lease marketplace, believes this technology is increasingly being used between people transferring in and out of a lease deal.

Car shoppers on Swapalease.com communicate with people interested in transferring out of their car lease. Executives at the marketplace believe as many as 25% of all transactions involve text message communications and negotiation, up from about 5% in 2010.

Shoppers using text message say they like the ability to communicate and even negotiate via text message because it takes all the emotion out of the process, and it’s a quick way to strike a deal. According to the latest Nielsen Mobile Consumer Report, 82% of people are using their smartphones to browse the web. Additionally, J.D. Power stated that 1 in 5 digital auto buyers used their tablets or smartphones to research their vehicle purchase.

“Swapalease.com is a primary example of how the web changed the way people shop for cars,” said Scot Hall, Executive Vice President of Swapalease.com. “As such, it comes as no surprise that today’s mobile devices would provide an additional example of how many people adjust and adapt their car shopping experience.”
