Hyundai delivers 2012 Elantra sedan at $15,345
Tooting your own horn may be bad manners at a cocktail party, but Hyundai says it has good reason for adding a more prominent horn sound for all trim levels of the 2012 Elantra mid-size sedan.
With a roomy interior, fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon and a starting price of $15,345, the automaker thinks it will have a winner on its hands when car leasing shoppers get a chance to see the new model.
Drivers who press the "Active Eco System" button on the Elantra dashboard will improve their gas mileage as the intelligent engine smoothes out its throttle responses and transmission control, extending efficiency as much as 7 percent over standard settings.
All 2012 models ship with a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine, connected in the base model GLS to a six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle lease price rises to $17,595 for a GLS with automatic transmission, and to $20,595 for the Elantra Limited, which uses an automatic gear shift.
Extra options in the top-shelf Technology Package trim line include features like a hands-free Bluetooth phone system with voice recognition control, navigation system with 7-inch screen, rear view camera and proximity key entry with electronic push button start.
